From the Printing Press to AI: The Church’s Tech Journey

Hey!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how the Church has always embraced new technology—and what that means for us now with AI.

Did you know that back in the 15th century, the printing press was one of the biggest game-changers for spreading the Gospel? Before Gutenberg came along, Bibles were hand-copied and out of reach for most people. But with the printing press, suddenly, everyone could read scripture for themselves. It fueled movements like the Reformation and made God’s Word more accessible than ever.

Fast forward to the 20th century, and we saw the Church broadcasting sermons on the radio and television. People could hear the Gospel without even stepping into a church. And then came the internet, where believers could connect globally, share testimonies, and dive into more resources than we could’ve imagined.

Now we’re standing at the doorstep of something just as big: Artificial Intelligence. I know, it can feel a little intimidating (and maybe even overwhelming), but if history has taught us anything, it’s this—technology can be a powerful tool for the Kingdom when we keep the Gospel at the center.

Imagine using AI to create Bible study prompts, write devotionals, or even make worship songs that resonate with your church or family. Picture AI helping you generate scripture-inspired artwork or design tools for ministry. It’s not about replacing what we do, but enhancing it, making it more accessible and meaningful.

We’ve always been innovators when it comes to using tech for God’s glory, and I think AI is the next step in that legacy. The big question is: how can we use this tool to make an even bigger impact for the Gospel?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. How do you see AI fitting into your life or ministry? Let’s chat about it—I’m always up for a good conversation about faith and innovation.
